Why this site exists
English-language SaaS reviews are everywhere. Reviews that tell you whether a product actually works in Japanese are not.
Vendor pages list Japanese as a supported language. What that means in practice — whether transcription is usable, whether the interface gives a Japanese beginner a way in, whether the output can be handed to a Japanese client without rewriting it — is usually left untested. That gap is what this site covers.
Who publishes this
Cross Shore Tools is published by Cross Shore LLC, a Japanese company working between Japan, Thailand and global markets across OEM and product planning, international trade, and dual-base living support.
Reviews are written by Wataru Otsubo, founder of Cross Shore. He spent close to two decades at TOPPAN — one of Japan’s largest printing and communications companies — first in print production management and later in sales-promotion planning and production management, before leaving to build Cross Shore. He now works from Chiang Mai, Thailand.
That background is the lens these tools are tested through: Japanese corporate workflows, deadlines that do not move, and the distance between what a vendor claims and what survives a real meeting.
What we do
We sign up for the product, use it for real work in Japanese, record what happens, and publish the result with the evidence attached. Products are scored with the Japan Readiness Score, described on our Testing Method page. Bad results are published as readily as good ones.
What we cover first
We are starting with AI meeting assistants — the category where the distance between English performance and Japanese performance is widest, and easiest to measure honestly. Other AI productivity and work SaaS categories will follow as we test them.
